"Open world Program" orientation seminar, U.S.A from 7 – 20 November 2012

The APML’s representatives have departed for a two-week visit to the United States. The study visit was organized as part of the "Open World program" of the U.S. Congress (www.openworld.gov). The program was launched as a pilot project and was established as a permanent program in 2000 with an idea to allow representatives of countries from Europe and Asia to learn about the American democratic system. The program now has more than 17.000 leaders from all areas of political and public life of countries from Europe and Asia who had the opportunity to become part of the "Open World alumni program."
Under the program, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative role of Congress. The APML’s representatives will be allowed to participate actively in the work of Congress in the legislative role, prevention of human trafficking and other areas that are important for the Congress.

The main objectives of the program are helping delegates, who were part of a program to strengthen the legislature in their countries, developing a network of leaders who had the opportunity to attend the Congress in order to be able to work together in areas of common interest.
A significant aspect of the operations of the program is to establish and strengthen cooperation and partnership relations between the U.S. and countries in Europe and Asia.
