Second NRA workshop in Belgrade, Serbia

The Second Workshop on Serbia’s National AML Risk Assessment is held in Belgrade on 23 and 24 October 2012. Serbia was the first country in the region to undertake such a complex endeavour. Representatives of the APML and a great number of other state authorities have worked together over past nine months to obtain relevant data that would serve as the indicator of Serbia’s national vulnerability. The aim of the NRA is to give an overview of possibilities for an efficient use of the available financial, technical and human resources in the fight against financial crime. The Second NRA Workshop is organised under EU IPA-funded MOLI – Serbia project, implemented by the Council of Europe. Apart from the APML and numerous other state authorities, representatives of relevant institutions of the regional countries also participate in the implementation of the workshop. Considerable support to the organisation of this workshop was provided by the World Bank and the OSCE. The NRA process has attracted significant interest of AML/CFT professionals in the Council of Europe member countries which are yet to start work on such a complex project. Namely, the most recent amendments to the FATF Recommendations acknowledged national risk assessment as an international standard.
