The Workshop on EU Terrorist Lists organized by TAIEX was held in Belgrade on 24 and 25 September 2012. The participants of the Workshop – representatives of the Administration, Ministry of Justice, courts, State Prosecutor’s Office, Military Security Agency, but also of comercial banks, had an opportunity to learn of the experiences of the Swedish Ministry of Justice, EUROPOL, Belgian, Spanish and British Police, as well as of the FIU Poland, that is, to familiarize themselves with EU legislative framework regulating designation of persons, but also delisting and mechanisms for the protection of basic human rights. The Workshop was held at the intitiative of the Administration, in the context of the Draft Law on Asset Freezing for Terrorism Prevention Purposes, which makes it obligatory for a country to have a reference list of persons brought into connection with terrorist activities, and which will be binding for banks and other financial institutions to freeze assets without delay.
